About the Band

1st Troon Boys’ Brigade Pipe Band is a youth-focused pipe band from Troon, South Ayrshire, linked to the long-established 1st Troon Boys’ Brigade Company, which was founded in 1919. The band is part of the local Boys’ Brigade tradition, giving young players a route into piping, drumming, discipline, performance, and competition.

The band has become increasingly visible in recent years, especially on the Scottish competition circuit. Its standout achievement came at the 2022 World Pipe Band Championships, where 1st Troon Boys’ Brigade Pipe Band won Grade 4B, becoming World Champions in that grade at Glasgow Green. The achievement was recognised in the UK Parliament, praising the players, families, and leaders for keeping teaching and practice going through the challenges of the Covid period.

Beyond competition, the band remains active in community life around Troon. It has supported local events such as Troon RNLI Lifeboat Station’s open day and historic lifeboat pull, showing the band’s role as both a contesting group and a civic presence.
