About the Band

BBC Old Collegians Pipe Band is a Brisbane-based pipe band connected with the alumni community of Brisbane Boys’ College in Queensland, Australia. The band was formed in 1990, inspired by the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Brisbane Boys’ College school pipe band, and has since grown into a regular part of the Queensland pipe band scene.

The band wears the Brisbane Boys College tartan and is listed by Pipe Bands Australia as competing in Grade 3. Its role is both competitive and social, giving former pupils and local players a way to continue piping and drumming beyond school while maintaining the BBC pipe band tradition.

The wider Brisbane Boys’ College pipe band tradition is significant in its own right, with the school band appearing at major events including the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2018, 2022 and 2024, as well as the 2023 Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo.
