About the Band

Campbell River Pipe Band is a community pipe band from Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada. The band’s own history traces it back to the Campbell River Legion Youth Pipe Band, formed in 1957, and notes that it has been active in the local community since then. It is sponsored by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 137 and the Campbell River Celtic Arts Society.

The band performs regularly at community events and parades, with its website describing “a dozen or more performances and parades every year.” It is also active in the British Columbia pipe band scene, competing at several regional Highland games.

Campbell River Pipe Band has also travelled beyond its local area, including visits by part of the band to Ishikari, Japan, Campbell River’s sister city, for twinning anniversary celebrations. The band continues today as a teaching, performance and community group under the Campbell River Celtic Arts umbrella.
