About the Band

Carnoustie & District Pipe Band is a community pipe band from Carnoustie in Angus, on Scotland’s east coast. The band was founded in 2008 and draws players from the local area, with around thirty members of mixed ages and abilities. Its aims are straightforward: promote piping and drumming, entertain the public, improve through competition, and enjoy the whole noisy business along the way.

The band is registered with the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association and is publicly listed as a Grade 4B band. Its first official competition came in 2010, showing a fairly quick move from formation into the contest scene.

Carnoustie & District has become part of the Angus and east-coast pipe band landscape, supporting local events while also taking the field at Highland games and RSPBA contests. Like many newer community bands, its real strength is in building players, giving learners a place to progress, and keeping the local pipe band tradition alive without needing a century-old origin story carved into a dusty shield.
