About the Band

City of Greenville Pipes and Drums is a competition and performance pipe band based in Greenville, South Carolina. The band was founded in 1974 by Malcolm Williams and originally appears to have been known as the Piedmont Highlanders, before developing into the City of Greenville Pipes and Drums. It represents both Greenville and the wider state of South Carolina at community events, ceremonies and Highland games.

The band is a member of the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association and competes as well as performs, with recent public material showing it active in Grade 4 contests, including events such as Stone Mountain Highland Games.

In 2024, City of Greenville marked its 50th anniversary, celebrating five decades of music, education and community involvement. Its role is very much that of a regional pipe band anchor.
