About the Band
Kapiti Coast Pipes & Drums is based on the Kapiti Coast, Wellington, New Zealand, and was established in 1952. The band was formerly known as Paraparaumu and Districts Pipe Band, reflecting its local roots before adopting the wider Kapiti Coast identity. (facebook.com)
The band practises at The Scots Hall, Weka Road, Raumati, and remains active as a community pipe band, supporting parades, local events, teaching and competition. The Royal New Zealand Pipe Bands’ Association lists the band’s tartan as Douglas and names Trevor Wilson as Pipe Major and contact for piping, drumming and parade enquiries. (rnzpba.com)
Kapiti Coast Pipes & Drums has also been part of the competition scene, with RNZPBA directory material previously listing it in Grade 4B. Recent public posts suggest the band has returned to competition and has been rebuilding its drum corps, keeping the organisation active and developing.
