Merchiston Pipe Band is the pipes and drums programme of Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh. The band forms part of the school’s wider co-curricular life, giving pupils tuition and performance experience in piping and drumming. Merchiston describes the band as combining music, discipline and teamwork, with pupils performing at school events such as Burns Suppers and Open Days, as well as appearing at local, national and international events.

In recent years the band has developed a stronger competitive profile under Director of Pipes and Drums Kyle Warren, a five-time Pipes World Champion. Around 20% of pupils are reported to be involved in the Pipes and Drums programme, which shows the scale of piping and drumming within the school.

The band has competed successfully in school and youth-level contests, including taking first prize in Junior B Grade at the Glasgow Highland Club competition. It has also represented the school internationally, including public performances linked to New York Tartan Day events.
