About the Band
Regina Police Pipes & Drums is a volunteer pipe band representing the Regina Police Service and the City of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada. The band was formed in 1985 to strengthen public relations between the police service and the wider community. Its early instruction was provided by George Crawford and Howard Chamberlain, and the original membership was made up entirely of police members learning pipes and drums from scratch.
Over time, the band broadened beyond serving officers, bringing in experienced civilian pipers and drummers from the local community. It now functions as both a ceremonial police band and a community pipe band, performing at civic events, parades, multicultural festivals, memorials, private functions and police occasions across Regina and southern Saskatchewan.
Like many police pipe bands, Regina Police Pipes & Drums wears the Prince Charles Edward Stuart tartan. The band has also competed on the Saskatchewan pipe band circuit, with records noting Grade 4 activity and Saskatchewan Championship success in 2015 and 2017.
