About the Band

The Pipe Band Club, Sydney, is an Australian pipe band organisation formed in 2008 after a major group of players left the former St Marys District Band Club Pipe Band. The new band was established under the leadership of figures including Scott Nicolson and Mark Romer, and soon relocated its activities to The Scots College in Bellevue Hill.

The band quickly built a strong competitive reputation, competing in Grade 1 at the World Pipe Band Championships in 2009 and 2010. It won the Australian Championship in Grade 1 in 2008 and 2010, before later moving to Grade 2 as part of a rebuilding period.

Under Pipe Major Angus Roberts and Drum Sergeant Scott Miller, The Pipe Band Club won the Australian Grade 2 Championship in 2014, and continued to represent Australia internationally. Notable later achievements included strong performances in Scotland, including reaching the Grade 2 final at the World Championships and placing third in 2019.

Today, The Pipe Band Club is recognised as one of Australia’s prominent competitive pipe bands, with a history of national titles, overseas competition and player development.
