About the Band
Capital City Pipes & Drums is based in central Ohio, USA, and has been active since 1963. The band was originally formed through the efforts of Bobby Peters and others in the Columbus area. Peters, who was born in Ayrshire, Scotland, served as Pipe Major and helped establish the band as part of the local Scottish cultural community.
In its early years, the band performed at events including Burns Suppers, St Andrew’s banquets, Hogmanay celebrations and holiday parades around Columbus. It later developed as both a performance and teaching organisation, supporting pipers, drummers and Highland dancers.
Today, Capital City Pipes & Drums continues to perform across central Ohio and beyond, offering music and dance instruction while promoting Scottish heritage through public events, lessons and community appearances.
