About the Band
Beatrix Pipe Band is based in Hilversum in the Netherlands and is one of the country’s long-running pipe bands. The band has been active since at least the 1980s and has helped promote Scottish-style piping and drumming within the Dutch pipe band scene.
The wider history of pipe bands in the Netherlands dates back to the 1950s, with bands developing through police, youth and civilian organisations. Beatrix became part of that tradition and has competed internationally, including appearances at the World Pipe Band Championships in Grade 4B under Pipe Major Gillian Hettinga.
Today, Beatrix Pipe Band continues to represent the Netherlands through competition, public performance and cultural events, keeping Highland piping and drumming active in mainland Europe.
