About the Band

Blue Squadron Pipe Band is based in Opočnice in the Czech Republic and is part of the growing Scottish pipe band scene in mainland Europe. The band is active in public performance, Highland games and cultural events, appearing at major Czech Scottish gatherings such as the Sychrov Highland Games.

Public information on the band’s founding date and early history is limited, but it is listed as an active Czech pipe band and has competed internationally, including in Grade 4B at the 2024 World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow.

Blue Squadron is also linked to the wider development of piping in the Czech Republic, with teaching in the early 2000s helping produce players and groups including The Rebel Pipers and Blue Squadron Pipe Band.

Today, the band represents Czech piping and drumming through competition, performance and Scottish cultural events, helping keep the pipe band tradition active well beyond its Scottish homeland.
