Clan Pipers, formally The Clan Pipers Frankfurt & District Pipe Band, is based in Frankfurt, Germany. The band was founded in 1974 by Peter Bergschmidt and is recognised as Germany’s oldest pipe band. It was created to promote traditional Scottish pipe band music in Germany and has become one of the best-known pipe bands in continental Europe.

Over nearly five decades, Clan Pipers has performed at events in Germany and abroad, while also competing in Germany, mainland Europe and Scotland. The band has developed a strong identity, including its own registered Clan Pipers tartan, recorded with the Scottish Register of Tartans.

Today, Clan Pipers continues to perform, compete and promote Scottish piping and drumming from its Frankfurt base, helping establish and sustain the pipe band tradition in Germany.
