About the Band

Lewis & Harris Youth Pipe Band is based in the Western Isles and brings together young pipers and drummers from across Lewis and Harris. The band supports school-age players through tuition, rehearsals, public performance and competition, helping continue the strong piping tradition of the islands.

The organisation is supported by the Lewis and Harris Youth Pipe Band Supporters Association, a registered Scottish charity since 2018. Its purpose is to advance musical education for pupils in Lewis and Harris and to promote public performance of pipe music.

The band has around 30 members from across Lewis and Harris and has performed locally as well as competing at events such as the Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships. It has also received community funding to support its activities, including a £10,000 award from Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn in 2024.

Today, Lewis & Harris Youth Pipe Band plays an important role in developing the next generation of island pipers and drummers, keeping Highland music strong in one of Scotland’s most musical communities.
