About the Band

Northern Constabulary Community Pipe Band is based in Inverness and was formed in October 2002, making its first public appearance in summer 2003 at the Isle of Skye Pipe Band Festival. It was created as a voluntary community band with links to serving and retired police officers, while also welcoming civilian pipers and drummers from the local area.

The band took its name from Northern Constabulary, the former police force for the Highlands and Islands, which was later amalgamated into Police Scotland in 2013.

Over the years, the band has performed at Highland games, parades, civic events, remembrance occasions and community engagements across the north of Scotland, including appearances at Helmsdale Games, Armed Forces Day and Inverness public events.

Today, Northern Constabulary Community Pipe Band continues to represent Inverness and the Highland area through public performance, community service and promotion of piping and drumming.
