About the Band
Talcott Mountain Highlanders Pipe Band is based in Simsbury, Connecticut, USA. The band was formed in October 2015 to teach bagpipes and Highland drumming to young people in the Farmington River Valley area. It is registered as a Connecticut non-profit organisation and quickly grew into a youth-focused piping and drumming group.
By early 2018, the band had around 30 members, including some parents, and was already competing successfully. That same year, it was preparing for its first trip to Scotland to compete at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow.
Today, Talcott Mountain Highlanders continues as an active competition and teaching band, listed in Grade 4B/Grade 5 activity and registered with the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association. It remains focused on developing young pipers and drummers while representing the Simsbury area in the wider North American pipe band scene.
