About the Band

The Heather Pipes & Drums of Copenhagen is based in Hvidovre, in the southern area of Copenhagen, Denmark. The band association was founded on 15 September 1970, with the aim of promoting interest in Highland bagpipe and pipe band drumming through performance and teaching.

The band has played an important role in developing Scottish-style pipe band music in Denmark, performing at public events, cultural occasions, tattoos and competitions at home and abroad. It wears the Drummond of Perth tartan and is currently registered in Grade 4.

Over the years, Heather Pipes & Drums has represented Denmark on the international pipe band scene, including appearances at the World Pipe Band Championships in Scotland. Today, it continues to support piping and drumming in Copenhagen through tuition, rehearsals, public performance and competition.
