About the Band
Clan MacNaughton Pipe Band is based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The band was formed in 1972 and adopted the MacNaughton name and tartan because of the clan affiliation of its first Pipe Major.
For its early years, the band operated mainly as a teaching band, helping develop pipers and drummers in the Edmonton area. In 1987, it moved away from competition and became a non-competitive performance band, focusing instead on public and private engagements, parades and Remembrance Day ceremonies.
The band has a long association with the Edmonton Scottish Society, which declared Clan MacNaughton Pipe Band its official band in 1989. It has performed at society events including Highland gatherings, Hogmanay celebrations and opening ceremonies.
Today, Clan MacNaughton Pipes & Drums continues as an Edmonton community band, supporting Scottish music through performance, teaching and local cultural events.
