About the Band

RCMP Pipes, Drums and Dancers of the National Capital Region is based in Ottawa, Ontario, and represents the Royal Canadian Mounted Police through piping, drumming and Highland dancing. Its roots lie in the RCMP’s 125th anniversary work in 1997, when a national tartan committee was formed to design a unique RCMP tartan and recommend kilted dress for RCMP pipers and drummers. The RCMP tartan and kilted uniform were approved in 1998.

The Ottawa-based band was established in 2000 and has since performed at police ceremonies, memorials, community events, parades and international engagements. Its work includes National Police Memorial events in Ottawa, Remembrance services, Canada Day appearances and overseas tattoos, including Basel.

Today, the band continues as one of several RCMP community pipe bands across Canada, combining ceremonial service, public performance and the promotion of piping, drumming and Highland dancing in the National Capital Region.
