About the Band
Erft Area Pipes & Drums is based in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss area of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, with rehearsals in Rommerskirchen-Sinsteden between Grevenbroich and Rommerskirchen. The band was formed in August 2013 by six musicians who wanted to share Scottish bagpipe and drum music, as well as interest in Scottish culture, within their local region.
The name reflects the Erft area, giving the band a clear regional identity. Since its formation, Erft Area has grown to include both experienced players and beginners, with a focus on enjoying the music and bringing it to wider audiences. The band performs at Highland games, music shows, British-themed events, weddings, birthdays, company events, anniversaries and whisky tastings.
Erft Area Pipes & Drums also offers tuition in Great Highland bagpipe and Scottish drums, including snare, tenor and bass. It has appeared in competition activity, including Grade 5 at the Peine International Pipe Band Championships in 2023.
