About the Band

The High Life Highland Youth Pipe Band is based in Inverness and brings together young pipers and drummers from across the Highland area. The band is part of High Life Highland’s wider music development programme, giving pupils access to tuition, ensemble playing and performance opportunities.

The band was formed in 2015 and has developed as a youth-focused pipe band, supporting players who may not all attend the same school or rehearse together weekly. Despite that challenge, it has built a strong schools competition profile. In 2026, High Life Highland won the Junior B category at the Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships in Kilmarnock, one of Scotland’s largest schools piping events.

Today, The High Life Highland Youth Pipe Band continues to develop young Highland musicians through piping, drumming, public performance and competition, helping keep the region’s strong traditional music culture moving into the next generation.
