Barrhead & District Pipe Band is a community pipe band from Barrhead, East Renfrewshire. The band was founded in October 2013 and has built itself around local participation, tuition, community events and competition. Its public profile describes it as the home of Barrhead & District Pipe Band, while associated social media lists the band as based in Barrhead and competing in Grade 4B.

The band moved into competition relatively recently. A UK Parliament motion in 2022 noted that Barrhead & District was formed in 2013, began competing in 2018, and had taken part in only six events before winning the Grade 4 competition at Ardrossan Highland Games. That win was especially notable because the band had kept going through the disruption of Covid, with members ranging from young learners to older players.

Barrhead & District’s story is very much a modern grassroots one: a local band built from community effort rather than inherited Victorian mythology and dusty committee scrolls. It supports local events, develops pipers and drummers, and gives Barrhead its own pipe band voice on the contest field.
