About the Band

Denny & Dunipace Pipe Band Association was established in 1964 by Captain John Deuchar and Roy Smith, with Smith becoming the first Pipe Major. The band is based in Denny and Dunipace, Stirlingshire, and has become one of Scotland’s best-known competition pipe band organisations.

Across its history, the association has supported bands through almost every RSPBA competition grade. During the 1970s and 1980s, the senior band rose from Grade 4 to Grade 1, collecting major championship honours along the way. It reached Grade 1 in 1989, and later again after a strong Grade 2 spell under Pipe Major David Clunie and Lead Drummer Arthur Cook, including European, World and Cowal Championship success in 2012.

The association is also a registered Scottish charity, recorded from 13 March 1979, supporting piping, drumming, teaching, and competition activity in the local area.
