About the Band

East Ayrshire Caledonia Pipe Band is based in East Ayrshire and describes its key purpose as the regeneration of piping and drumming in East Ayrshire. The band is a registered Scottish charity, with aims including teaching piping and drumming, performing as a pipe band, developing young players, and competing at the highest level possible.

The band has had difficult periods but remains active. A Gordon Duncan Memorial Trust testimonial notes that East Ayrshire Caledonia had fallen from Grade 3A to Grade 4B, but used outside coaching and support to keep the band together and rebuild. That same account describes it as a band that had been active for over 90 years, suggesting a much deeper local history than its current public profile alone shows.

More recently, the band has been linked with the EPIC East Ayrshire Pipe Band Academy, a teaching programme started by Karen McCrindle-Warren and Paul Warren to develop young pipers and drummers in the area. Public profiles also describe Paul Warren as Pipe Major of East Ayrshire’s last remaining pipe band.

In 2025, East Ayrshire Caledonia was competing in Grade 4A, including at the European Pipe Band Championships, led by Pipe Major Paul Warren and wearing Ayrshire tartan.
