About the Band
Raphoe Ulster Scots Pipe Band is based in Raphoe, County Donegal, a border town with strong Ulster-Scots links. The band was formed in 2018 with the aim of creating a pipe band that would encourage cross-border and cross-community participation, welcoming players from different backgrounds.
The band practises weekly at the Ulster-Scots Agency Regional Office in Raphoe and is registered with the Irish Pipe Band Association. It competes in Grade 4A and wears Hebridean Heather tartan.
Although a relatively young band, Raphoe Ulster Scots has quickly become active on the Irish pipe band scene, appearing at contests including the All-Ireland Championships and events across Ulster. The band has also been part of wider Ulster-Scots cultural activity, including youth and community events.
