About the Band

Stirling & District Schools Pipe Band is a youth pipe band drawing young pipers and drummers from schools across the Stirling Council area. It is based around the council’s schools music provision, with Stirling High School noting that it is home to the band, led by instructors Mr Gibb and Miss Taylor.

The band gives pupils a structured route into piping and drumming, combining tuition, rehearsals, public performances and competition experience. It performs locally at events such as Stirling’s Christmas lights switch-on and represents the area at schools and RSPBA contests.

Competitively, the band has made a strong impression in the juvenile and junior grades. In 2024, Stirling Council celebrated the band being named fourth best in the world after success at the World Pipe Band Championships, with the group made up of young players from schools across the area.

The band has also been recognised beyond contest placings. At the 2026 Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships, Stirling & District Schools won the Eilidh MacLeod Endeavour Award, after young members fundraised for charity by busking during the winter.
