About the Band

Strathendrick Pipe Band Association is based in Blanefield, near Glasgow, and has roots going back to the Second World War. The band was originally linked to “S” Company, 3rd Dunbartonshire Battalion Home Guard Pipe Band, before continuing after the war as a civilian community band. Its early story is closely associated with Pipe Major Tom McLean, who helped shape the band in the 1940s.

Today, Strathendrick operates mainly as a teaching and development band for pipers and drummers, with the aim of progressing through the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association grades. The band is associated with the Ancient Maclean of Duart tartan and continues to serve the local area through tuition, competition and public performances.
