About the Band

Mid Argyll Pipe Band is based in the Mid Argyll area of Scotland and was formed in 1927. Its main aim has been to promote traditional pipe band music across the local area, with performances covering communities from Tarbert to Inveraray and Kilmartin.

The band has a strong teaching focus, with an established tuition programme that has brought many of its current players through from beginner level. Alongside local performances, Mid Argyll competes during the summer season at major pipe band championships, giving local musicians the chance to test themselves against bands from Scotland and beyond.

In recent years, the band has continued to build its competition profile, including Grade 4B success and Champion of Champions recognition in 2018. Today, Mid Argyll Pipe Band remains an active community and competition band, supporting piping and drumming across one of Scotland’s strongest traditional music areas.
