About the Band
Royal Air Force of Oman Pipe Band represents the Royal Air Force of Oman, part of the Sultan’s Armed Forces. Publicly available detail on the band’s exact founding date is limited, but it sits within Oman’s wider military pipe band tradition, which expanded after Sultan Qaboos came to power in 1970 and encouraged the development of military bands with Scottish piping influence.
The band has appeared in international competition, including Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association events in Scotland. Recent listings show Royal Air Force of Oman competing in Grade 4B, with recorded results at events such as Dundonald Highland Games.
Today, Royal Air Force of Oman Pipe Band forms part of Oman’s distinctive military music culture, combining ceremonial service, public performance and competition. It helps represent the Sultanate internationally while continuing the unusual but well-established Omani link with Highland piping and drumming.
