About the Band
Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew Pipe Band is based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. The band was established in 1927 with just three pipers and three drummers, each providing their own instrument, and its first bass drum was adapted from an old brass band drum.
The band became a central part of Fredericton’s Scottish cultural life, performing at parades, concerts, social events and community gatherings. From the mid-1960s, it developed a consistent competition presence and has fielded a competition band every year since, making it one of North America’s long-standing piping and drumming organisations.
Today, the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew Pipe Band continues to support piping and drumming through teaching, performance and competition. It remains one of Atlantic Canada’s recognised pipe band programmes, proudly carrying a tradition that is approaching a full century.
