About the Band

Humboldt Highlanders Pipe Band is based in Eureka, in Humboldt County, northern California. Its history goes back to the 1980s, when it was known as the North Coast Pipe Band and was affiliated with the local North Coast Scottish Society. The band performed at local functions, festivals and parades, including events in Redding and Crescent City.

After a long hiatus, many original members joined with newer pipers and drummers in 2014 to reform the group as Humboldt Highlanders Pipe Band. The band wears Ancient Muir tartan and competes under the Western United States Pipe Band Association, with its Northern Branch listing showing it upgraded to Grade 4 for 2026.

Today, Humboldt Highlanders continues to promote Scottish traditional pipe band music in northern California through performance, competition and recruitment of new pipers and drummers.
