About the Band

Elgin & District Pipe Band is a Moray-based community pipe band from Elgin, Scotland. The band was formed in 1975 and promotes piping and drumming across Elgin and the surrounding Moray area. Its public profile describes it as a band focused on performance, tuition, and keeping local piping and drumming active in the community.

The band is a registered Scottish charity, SC030783, with a purpose centred on public education and community participation in bagpiping and drumming. It performs at Highland games, charity events and local occasions, while also competing on the RSPBA circuit.

Elgin & District wears MacLean of Duart tartan and has competed in recent years across Grade 4A and Grade 3 contexts. Public competition material shows the band led by Pipe Major Scott Oliphant, including North of Scotland Branch events where the band has placed strongly in Grade 3.
