About the Band

Hollymount Pipe Band is based just outside Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland, practising in Hollymount Orange Hall. The band was formed in 1919, just after the First World War, and is described as the first pipe band in the Lecale area. It was later reformed after the Second World War in 1945, giving it both early 20th-century roots and a strong post-war revival story.

The band has remained a local community organisation for generations, supporting parades, public events, cultural activity and pipe band competition. Its centenary was marked in 2019, when the band paraded in Crossgar to celebrate 100 years of music and community service.

Today, Hollymount Pipe Band continues to represent the Downpatrick area through piping, drumming and local tradition.
